WHAT IS A DIVORCE CERTIFICATE?
A Divorce Certificate is an official document issued after divorce or khula is registered in Pakistan.
It is issued through:
- Union Council
- NADRA computerized system
This certificate is the final and legal proof of divorce.
IMPORTANT TERMS
- Talaq Nama = Divorce Deed
- Khula = Divorce requested by the wife
- Divorce Certificate = Final legal proof
TYPES OF DIVORCE
1. UNCONTESTED DIVORCE
- Both husband and wife agree
- No court appearance required
2. CONTESTED DIVORCE
- Disagreement between parties
- Court process required
DIVORCE PROCESS (PAKISTAN)
- Prepare Divorce Deed
- Submit to Union Council
- Notice sent to both parties
- Arbitration process (90 days)
- If no reconciliation → Divorce Certificate issued
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Original Divorce Deed
- Copy of Divorce Deed
- CNIC copies (husband & wife)
- CNIC copies of fathers
- Marriage Certificate copy
- Passport copies (if available)
- Court order (for Khula cases)
- Witnesses (2 persons)
NADRA DIVORCE CERTIFICATE
- Issued after registration in Union Council
- Computerized and verifiable
- Valid in Pakistan and abroad
- Final step of divorce process
IMPORTANT NOTE
- Divorce is NOT complete without NADRA Certificate
- Court decree alone is NOT enough
- Union Council registration is mandatory
KHULA PROCESS (FOR WIFE)
If wife does not have right of divorce in Nikahnama:
- File case in Family Court
- Court issues decree
- Submit to Union Council
- Certificate issued after process

DIVORCE COMPLETION
Divorce is complete ONLY when:
- NADRA Divorce Certificate is issued

- Minimum: 90 days
- Uncontested: Faster
- Contested: Longer
OVERSEAS CASES
- Same Pakistani Divorce Certificate used
- Valid worldwide
- No separate foreign certificate
RIGHTS AFTER DIVORCE
- Wife can stay in the home temporarily
- Legal rights depend on the case
